Además de las glosas originales, escritas por los escribanos (Kerkhof 1993:2), un comentarista, probablemente en la corte napolitana, añadió otras a las cc. 2-275 (Kerkhof 1993: 2), mientras un segundo comentarista copió algunas de las glosas de Hernán Núñez (Sevilla, 1499; Granada, 1505) a las cc. 289, 296-96 (Kerkhof 1993: 3). Weiss nota que las glosas originales (A20) están en primera persona. Streeter 1958 las atribuye a Mena. Weiss 2013: A21: autor anónimo de las glosas, “comentarista A”, ¿Italiano? ¿humanista? “A humanist commentator, clerly writing for a Neapolitan audience (on linguistic and other cultural evidence), added numerous glosses to stanzas 2-275. He explains mythological references and authorities, and anticipates Hernán Húñez's interest in sources and imittio (especially of Lucan), as well as textual criticism.
